The finished yarnbomb!
So the people of Andover awoke today in gleeful anticipation of the arrival of the Olympic torch (I am imagining.) What they probably didn’t expect was this:
Well, you wouldn’t, would you. This lovely chap, called ‘The Millennium Man’ around here, although his real name I think is ‘Walking Man’ stands right on the route that the torch will be taking later today. I pass him pretty much every day and I’ve seen him dressed in all sorts of lovely accessories, usually traffic cones and pizza boxes. When it was snowing someone created a rather superb snow alien using his wreath as an oversize head. All well and good, but I thought it was about time he had a proper outfit and seeing as this summer it’s been tricky to know whether the weather be warm or not, I’m thinking a knitted shorts/vest combo is probably just the ticket.
As you will know if you read the previous (and my first ever) blog post, I did in fact cheat and use a knitting machine, but I crocheted the edges and swiss-darned the writing by hand. I also wimped out of being a knitting vigilante and asked permission from the Borough Council (to whom,I am sure, I shall forever be known as the crazy knitting lady), not in the spirit I know. I am totally in awe of the tons of real knitting street artists out there, and I appreciate I’m a bit of a wussy cheat, but we all have to start somewhere…
Thank you so much for reading the blog, please do follow along, I use Bloglovin’ to read the many blogs I follow so do add me if you use it too,
